Open Studio and

Flax Pulling

Join Emily McCumber of The Spinner Weaver at her newly insulated studio in Long Reach. With funding from ArtsNB, Emily has been able to insulate and partially finish an under-used outbuilding on the Kingston Peninsula which will now function as her weaving studio.

Join her at the studio where she and her family will explain the weaving process as well as flax processing. The past three years, the family has planted and processed flax which is the fibre that makes linen. Flax plants are best harvested by pulling them out of the ground to maintain the longest piece of flax fibre possible. Help us pull it and learn more about where fabric comes from. Maybe even take home something handwoven!

Date: TBD 2021
